Funding for the development of the Alexandria Digital Library middleware and the ADEPT Virtual Learning Environment, under the NSF DLI2 initiative, has now ended. Future support for enhancement and dissemination of the operational library infrastructure will be provided by the Davidson Library UCSB. ADL technology will be the starting point for designing a distributed geospatial library network funded by the Library of Congress Digital Preservation Initiative. The educational evaluation component of the DLI2 project continued into 2005, and further work on the ADEPT software and its broader deployment are under way via a joint U.S. (NSF) and U.K. (JISC) funded project: DialogPlus - Digital Libraries in Support of Innovative Approaches to Learning and Teaching in Geography.
The Lecture Composer is a software tool we've developed to make it easy for instructors to create structured lecture materials that can be reused, searched, and displayed. You can also integrate links to knowledge bases and object collections.
In particular, the Lecture Composer helps instructors:
- create structured lecture notes
- search over knowledge bases and object collections
- embed links from the lecture notes to displays generated by the knowledge bases and collection search services
- drive displays on the Knowledge, Lecture, and Collection Windows during a presentation.
Demos
When you click on the thumbnail images and concepts in this demo, they open in a separate browser window. When presenting the lecture, these windows are displayed on separate display screens.
