CONCEPT SYSTEM - Concept Controller

   
 

Purpose: Allows overall management of Concepts in the Concept database.

Method: Allows interactive query capability with the Concept database such that Concepts can be viewed, created, edited and relationships built.

Browser support: Internet Explorer 6.0+, Netscape 7.0+ and Mozilla 1.1+

Requires: No additional Software is required

To search existing Concepts: 

  1. Select the type of search from the Concept Search pulldown menu. Enter search parameter in text box to right of pulldown menu.  

    In all searches except
    View All, the empty text box must contain the search parameter.  For 'ID=', this is the Concept ID number, for all else, this is a search string such as 'cats'.  Lastly, the sort parameter can be changed to sort by ID, Primary Name and Non-Primary Name (NP-Name), Concept Type and Concept Facet. 
  2. Click Search.  The results will be displayed below in a few seconds.

To add a Concept:

  1. Click the Add Concept button. 
  2. Enter the information in the form and select SAVE NEW from the Editor menu in upper right.

To display a Concept:

  • After running a search, click the Concept's name in the results display.  The Concept is displayed in the Concept Viewer.

To edit a Concept:

  • After running a search, click the Concept's ID value in the results display.  The Concept will then be loaded into the Concept Editor for editing. See the Concept Editor help for information on editing concepts.

To add/edit a Concept's relationships:

  • After running a search, if the Concept has no existing relationships, you can click the Build link in the Relationships column. If the Concept has existing relationships, click the Edit link in the Relationships column to load the Concept Relationship Builder.
