There are a variety of funding requests either under consideration or under development. In terms of those under development, a proposal have been submitted to NIMA entitled ``A Multi-Agent Approach to Multimedia Geospatial Retrieval and Analysis,'' with a request for support of $850,000.
There are two proposals under development at the University of Colorado. First, the Denver Public Library has approached the CU Team to ask for help in georeferencing their collection of (scanned) historical photographs of Front Range landscapes, Following a pilot project (see research descriptions above), a collaborative proposal for joint funding is planned, to be submitted sometime this summer.
Second, discussions continue with the CU Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site on the Colorado campus, whose focus on Arctic and Alpine Environments has generated several years of digital environmental data. Some of these data are in the form of point samples; and others include maps and photos. A pilot project to develop metadata records for a specific data set should begin this winter, and the results of the pilot are to be inserted in ADL, following metadata recording templates supplied by UCSB. If the pilot is successful, a collaborative proposal between the CU-LTER and the CU-ADL teams will be submitted to NSF.
