The Testbed implements a connection to the Stanford InfoBus by means of a proxy InfoBus server running at Santa Barbara. The proxy server maps an incoming InfoBus request into an HTTP request to a special port on the ADL WP that accepts raw queries, without supporting any kind of user interface. The proxy server maps between the ADL WP catalog schema and the Z39.50 BIB-1 attribute set used by InfoBus clients.
The WP/Infobus connection is currently useful only for demonstration purposes, since the BIB-1 attribute set is not appropriate for querying spatial data. This situation is addressed by the ongoing development of the GEO-1 attribute set for Z39.50, which, like the ADL WP catalog schema, is based on the FGDC content standard for geospatial metadata.
